Usability and Features of Fusion Apps, Built Upon Fusion Middleware
Debra Lilley, Fujitsu
John King, King Training Resources
Time: 11:00 – 11:45 a.m.

When you buy a book on Amazon or a flight online, the systems are intuitive, easy-to-use, and you don’t need a training course to use them. Fusion Applications bring this usability to your enterprise, with industry-best processes. Simple to use, with everything in one place, and business changes made by the business, these applications are what we have been waiting for. So how is this achieved? Fusion Applications are built with Fusion Middleware and the features you will see in this presentation can be used to extend your current IT estate.

The following sessions drill into FMW and attending this one sets the perspective, shows you what is possible, and whets your appetite to understand the building blocks.

Objective:

  1. Become aware of Fusion Applications’ enhanced user experience enabled by Fusion Middleware.
  2. Learn how current IT estate may be enhanced using Fusion Middleware features.
  3. Understand how Fusion Middleware provides the building blocks for improving your user’s experience.

Jump-start Your Fusion Middleware Installation
Mark Farnham, Rightsizing
Jerry Ireland, Rightsizing
Time: 12:00 – 12:45 p.m.

This session showcases three Fusion Middleware experts: Jerry Ireland is an Oracle ACE, Mark Farnham is an Oracle ACE and a member of The OakTable Network, and Floyd Teter is an Oracle ACE Director. Mark, Jerry, and Floyd have all been on the forefront of Fusion architecture, with experience in helping many organizations with the installation, customization, and performance tuning of Fusion Middleware. All three will share tips and techniques for installing and configuring key components of Fusion Middleware: Oracle’s WebLogic, SOA Suite, BPM Suite, ADF, and OBIEE.

Objective:

  1. Understand the hardware and software requirements for installing Fusion Middleware.
  2. Avoid some potential pitfalls of Fusion Middleware installation.
  3. Lay out a path for installing Fusion Middleware quickly and easily.

Fusion in Higher Education
Tina Thorstenson
Time: 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.

Higher Education’s primary customers are students who expect us to deploy efficient applications with an impressive user experience. Enterprise applications are undergoing design improvements, upgrades, and technology enhancements at a rapid pace. Fusion Middleware is a complex set of tools made available to help meet this demand.

In this session you will hear about Fusion Middleware adoption in the Higher Education industry.  The VP of technology for the Higher Education User Group (HEUG) will highlight customer success stories.  Oracle strategists will describe how Oracle plans to incorporate these technologies via web services and integration utilities recently added to extend PeopleSoft Campus Solutions via tools such as ADF and AMX.

 Objective:

  1. Understand how Fusion Middleware tools may be added to your enterprise application infrastructure.
  2.  Learn how Fusion Middleware solutions are being adopted in the Higher Education industry.
  3. Become aware of Oracle’s strategy and tools to extend PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.

Integrating BI with Oracle Fusion Middleware: Tips, Techniques, and Opportunities
Mark Rittman, Rittman Mead
Time: 2:15 – 3:00 p.m.

Oracle Business Intelligence is a key component of Fusion Middleware (FMW) providing a metadata layer, shared/user–defined calculation, rich interactive dashboards & visualizations, and connectivity to Oracle Essbase multi–dimensional analysis. Oracle BI shares security, ADF development environment, and management tools with the rest of the Fusion Middleware suite, making it possible to embed BI into applications, business processes, and portals.

This session looks at how BI functionality can be used in FMW applications and business processes, and how BI dashboards and other visualizations can be included in ADF applications. The session will see what works and what's not quite there, and how Oracle uses integration capabilities in Fusion applications.

Objective:

  1. See how BI plays a key role in the overall Oracle Fusion Middleware stack.
  2. Understand how BI repositories can leverage ADF business components and be used in ADF applications.
  3. See how BI agents and functionality can be called and make use of FMW web services and processes.

Mobile Development with JDeveloper and ADF
Luc Bors, AMIS Services
Time: 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.

There are many web–based or device–native techniques to create mobile applications. To support multiple devices, such as iPhones, iPads, and Android phones & tablets, applications are developed many times, using multiple tools, languages, and platforms.

This session demonstrates using just one tool, JDeveloper, and one framework, Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF), to develop mobile applications. You will see options for ADF Rich Client & Trinidad Components and get introduced to the ADF Mobile Framework. ADF Mobile Framework makes it possible to create one application that runs on multiple mobile platforms. ADF Mobile Framework leverages ADF Developer skills so the learning curve for mobile development is lowered significantly.

Objective:

  1. Get to know Mobile development options with JDeveloper and ADF.
  2. Learn how to build mobile applications with the ADF Mobile Framework.

Understand how ADF Mobile allows you to build once and deploy ‘anywhere.’
