Easy to Speak to Whoever You Like

roelhartman1.jpgLatest in my Kscope run-up blog posts is my interview with Roel Hartman. Roel is an Oracle ACE Director and specializes in Database Application Development. In more recent years, he has become an Oracle Application Express expert. Roel attends many conferences, and has become a regular ODTUG Kscope presenter.

Early Bird Registration Ends March 25. Register by then to pay the lowest price for admission to the greatest Oracle Development conference in existence!

So, on to the questions…

MR: What’s the best thing about Kscope conferences?

RH: “The (still relative) small size of the conference makes it easy to speak to whoever you like. It is not as overwhelmingly big as Collaborate or OOW, where you are lucky when you meet someone you know. And the content is always good: no marketing stories but the real, more techie stuff.”

MR: Who do you most look forward to seeing a presentation from at Kscope and why?

RH: “I am really looking forward to Sunday’s APEX Symposium where the APEX Development Teamwill fill the whole day with presentations about the APEX future, version 4.1 (and beyond). The main question during that day will be ‘when will it be available?’ And of course we all hope that the Development Team will surprise the audience with some good news! (Just setting expectations here!)”

MR: Why Kscope and not somewhere else?

RH: “Although I attend several conferences every year, Kscope is always somewhere nice. So while visiting Kscope, I also had the chance to visit New Orleans, Monterey, Washington…And what Kscope really stands out for is its good food!”

MR: Have you ever been to Long Beach or visited the Queen Mary?

RH: “I have been close last year at Santa Monica and Venice Beach – and that was awesome. So really looking forward to Long Beach and the QueenMary!”

MR: Your all time favorite Kscope moment is…

RH: “…I think that was my first Kscope, in New Orleans. The heat outside in contrast to the ultimate coolness of the presentations! And then there is Bourbon Street…which needs no explanation at all…”

Thanks Roel!
