ODTUG APEX Gaming Competition

APEX is known as an outstanding transactional application builder, but what if it could do more? To find out how far APEX can go, ODTUG and Insum Solutions are collaborating to introduce the first worldwide Oracle APEX Gaming Competition. We proudly invite you to participate in this brand-new APEX community movement.

ODTUG would like to thank Vincent Morneau for coming up with this follow-up to the 2014 APEX Theming Competition and the 2012 Plugin Competition.

We asked Vincent, “Why gaming?”

“Gaming is not the end goal,” he said. “We are simply encouraging people to try new things with APEX and push the boundaries of our beloved platform. Who knows what will come out of it?”

The rules are simple; you can build any kind of game!

Want to reproduce an old classic? Go ahead.

Want to make it animated, fancy, and sophisticated? Go ahead.

Is it destined for desktop or mobile? Or why not both? The choice is yours.

Want to use a third-party JavaScript library? Sure, why not!

In fact, as long as the Oracle Database is used to store the game's metadata and APEX is used as the interface, the only limit is your imagination.

The submissions are open now and you have until Friday, October 9, 2015, to submit yours. Winners will be announced on Monday, November 2, 2015, prizes include choice of a tablet, a GoPro camera, and a few ODTUG one-year full memberships.

If you are an avid APEX developer looking to improve your spectrum of skills, this is your chance.

Introducing the judges: Joel R. Kallman, Dan McGhan, and Morneau. They will carefully evaluate every submission from top to bottom. If you ever wanted to undergo a personal code review by one of these guys, now's the time.

So get your gamification thinking hats on and start developing!
