Conference Skeptic Turns into Big Kscope Fan! By Tim Faitsch, Sears Holdings
I am a skeptical conference goer, and when I’m given the chance to attend one I usually decline. Before Kscope15, I had not been to a conference in a very long time. It had been so long that I didn’t realize how much I was missing. Over the years, I’ve heard so many rumors about how Kscope is different, so I decided to see for myself.
My greatest conference fears center around my past experience with other conferences that have too much emphasis on sales and not enough on technical content. It quickly became obvious to me that the planners of Kscope15 shared my fear because they swung the pendulum in the opposite direction.
Kscope made me feel like I was home. I was surrounded by people who share my passion for technology and problem solving. I was able to meet peers I have known from online technical forums for over a decade. I was able to see creative solutions to problems people are facing in the real world. I was able to listen to Oracle product managers to get a glimpse of where things are headed and where I need to focus my attention. I was able to see the high level of work that people in our industry are doing. Attending Kscope15 has given me great desire to expand the tools I use and improve the quality of the work I do. I am eager to see what the conference planners have in store for Kscope16 in Chicago. I’ll see you there!
