Conference Skeptic Turns into Big Kscope Fan!
By Tim Faitsch, Sears Holdings

I am a skeptical conference goer, and when I’m given the chance to attend one I usually decline. Before Kscope15, I had not been to a conference in a very long time. It had been so long that I didn’t realize how much I was missing. Over the years, I’ve heard so many rumors about how Kscope is different, so I decided to see for myself.

In This Issue

My greatest conference fears center around my past experience with other conferences that have too much emphasis on sales and not enough on technical content. It quickly became obvious to me that the planners of Kscope15 shared my fear because they swung the pendulum in the opposite direction.

Kscope made me feel like I was home. I was surrounded by people who share my passion for technology and problem solving. I was able to meet peers I have known from online technical forums for over a decade. I was able to see creative solutions to problems people are facing in the real world. I was able to listen to Oracle product managers to get a glimpse of where things are headed and where I need to focus my attention. I was able to see the high level of work that people in our industry are doing. Attending Kscope15 has given me great desire to expand the tools I use and improve the quality of the work I do. I am eager to see what the conference planners have in store for Kscope16 in Chicago. I’ll see you there!

How to Write a Great Abstract for Kscope16
 By Janice D'Aloia, Mo'mix Solutions

Kscope is the one opportunity every year to soak up as much EPM knowledge as our brains can handle. It’s amazing how much work people put into their presentations so they can share their insight with everyone. If you’re anything like me, the Kscope experience might inspire you to do the same and submit an abstract for next year’s conference. It’s not enough just to have a great idea for a topic. Product Review: ASO Native Export Format
into Column Format with cubeSavvy Utilities
By Philip Hulsebosch, Trexco b.v.

Sometimes a new functionality is introduced, but an important feature is missing to fully utilize its potential. Likewise, in the Essbase Aggregate Storage Option (ASO) we have a database export function but limited to the native format of the export file. As you might know, Essbase is super-fast at exporting all data and it can also handle this native format very well, but one cannot easily use this data elsewhere. To solve this issue, Harry Gates has built a solution called “ASO Export Parser”; let’s take a deeper look at this function of cubeSavvy Utilities. Read more.

Kscope15 South Florida Meetup
By Jessica Cordova, ARC EPM Consulting

Sadly, few of us have the opportunity to ask, “If there were a little more time in the day, the week, the month, the year, could I attend or maybe even start a local meetup?” Why? Simply because we are crazily busy, thanks to the seemingly endless march of technology and even more seemingly endless demands placed on us by work. Perhaps the question should be, “How can I improve or achieve a work/life balance while performing miracles at work and keeping abreast of the Oracle ecosystem?” Read more.

John Conlee and Brian Williams,
Vertical Edge Consulting Group, Mark Wright, Oracle Corporation

When Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management was first introduced it served a valuable purpose, but its lack of flexibility and functionality kept it from becoming a widely used product. The new releases of HPCM introduce the Management Ledger application type, which eliminates those concerns. Management Ledger applications provide more flexibility and ease of maintenance, and they are more geared toward management reporting needs than their predecessors. This presentation will show you how to increase visibility into the details that drive profit in your organization.
