VOTE FOR JEREMY: SXSW’s Panel Picker is open, and our boss – OAUX Group Vice President Jeremy Ashley – has submitted a session, which can be found here. Please vote! Then share this on your social media handles to help promote it and get more votes. Voting is open through September 2, and it counts for about 30% of our overall score in the SXSW selection process.

ORACLE OPENWORLD 2016: The Oracle Applications User Experience (OAUX) team will be hosting its annual OAUX Exchange at Oracle OpenWorld 2016 in San Francisco in September, as well as running research activities at on-site usability labs, offering a handful of sessions, and signing up customers and partners for tours of the Cloud UX lab and more at Oracle headquarters in Redwood Shores. For more on how we’ve set the new standard for a more human way of working in business apps, read about the OAUX Exchange in this post on the Voice of User Experience, or VoX, blog. Registration is also open for the Exchange, which does require a signed non-disclosure agreement from non-Oracle participants. We can help with that, if you need it. For more on our activities at Oracle OpenWorld, including directions for signing up for a tour of the Cloud UX lab, visit the Events page on the UsableApps website.

Sign up to participate in the usability lab for access to the front lines of Oracle’s next-generation applications. Your feedback will help us continue to develop applications with an easy to use, intuitive user interface. The lab will be onsite for just three days during the conference, and space is limited, so reserve your spot in this private event today: http://bit.ly/OAUXLab

Register for the Cloud UX Lab tour during Oracle OpenWorld and be amazed by the future of Oracle cloud applications. The Gadget Lab is where we are exploring the next generation of devices to understand their impact on the future of enterprise applications. http://bit.ly/UXLabTour

LAUNCHING THE DAILY MINOR PLANET: As part of the OAUX team’s social innovation initiative, members of this team and other parts of Oracle have – through Oracle Volunteers – paired up for a second time with NASA’S Minor Planet Center for a project on finding asteroids. In early August, the MPC launched a daily bulletin for subscribers from Cambridge, Mass., that helps both amateurs and professionals stay on top of the latest asteroid news. Watch the launch and stay tuned for more about this fascinating project.

ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Oracle’s corporate social media team has shared posts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook after visiting the Cloud UX Lab and checking out the Gadgets Lab recently. OAUX team, this is your work! Please feel free to repost and share.

DEVELOPING TALENT IN MEXICO: In a code challenge sponsored in part by Oracle, the government of Mexico, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Business and Advisory Committee (BIAC), developers competed for thousands of dollars in prizes as well as mentorship. Oracle’s UX Innovation Events team played a big role in organizing the challenge, which you can read more about on Forbes.com’s OracleVoice. Members of the AppsLab, the OAUX emerging technologies team, also served as mentors and wrote about their experience on the AppsLab blog. The UX Innovation Events team wrote their own post too, which you can read on their blog.

BIG DATA IDEAS IN MADRID: The UX Innovation Events team was also in Madrid tackling big data questions recently. Find out who won the hackathon on the UX Innovation Events blog.

BACK AT ODTUG KSCOPE: The AppsLab reprised their popular Scavenger Hunt at ODTUG’s Kscope 16 in Chicago in June. Get a look at the action on the AppsLab blog.
