When it comes to alternative hierarchies, the first thing that comes to most consultants' minds is, "they're great for reporting." While certainly true, there are many scenarios where alternative hierarchies can come to our rescue and give us additional solution design options that are often cheap in terms of impact on overallperformance, if designed properly.

Alternative hierarchies can be used in different scenarios - from reporting and managing security to mapping hierarchies, just to name a few. In this article, I'll talk a bit more on the mapping hierarchies and how we can utilize them.

Innovation often originates outside of the existing ecosystem, and account reconciliations is no different. Since 2011, Oracle Account Reconciliation Manager (ARM) and Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS as of 2016) have been beating the traditional industry incumbents out of the water.

Not only are companies switching from an offline Excel process to an integrated and automated solution, they are switching to Oracle from various other account reconciliation tools, including SaaS applications like BlackLine and Trintech.

On a beautiful afternoon in Florida last fall (80 degrees!), several EPMers met up for what would be one of the most interesting ODTUG meetups yet. Our chosen location to host the event was nestled just a few miles away from Ft. Lauderdale beach in a commercial strip plaza. We entered into the Think Escape Games office and were met with an eclectic décor that immediately sparked our interest. Was this really the place we were hosting an ODTUG Meetup??
