About Galo Balda – The Database Track Lead at Kscope17
Galo Balda is an Oracle Database Development Engineer currently working for Texas Health & Human Services. He specializes in the design and performance of the Social Services Applications that support several state programs such as Medicaid Managed Care, Medicare, Non-Emergency Medical Transportation, and CHIP. Galo is an Oracle ACE and a frequent speaker at Oracle and user group conferences including Oracle OpenWorld, RMOUG Training Days and ODTUG Kscope. Galo is an ODTUG volunteer and he has served as Kscope16 and Kscope17 Database Track Lead, Kscope abstract reviewer since 2013, and as part of the team that coordinates activities for the Database Community.
Galo’s first Kscope was in San Antonio in 2012. He has attended every year since, and he hopes to continue for years to come. Galo commented, “My favorite Kscope so far has been Kscope15 in Hollywood, FL. It’s hard to beat a setup where you have the beach next to the conference venue. I remember having a tough time deciding between getting into the ocean or attending sessions!”
Each year, Galo comes back to Kscope because of the great content and being able to connect with people who share the same interests.
