ODTUG Kscope19 Planning Track Highlights - Leo Gonzalez

Leo Gonzalez, Planning track lead for ODTUG Kscope19, shares his top three Planning track sessions at ODTUG Kscope19.

Hello, my name is Leo Gonzalez this was my third and final year participating as a member of the Planning track content selection team (two years as the Planning track lead). What better way to end my run as the Planning track lead than to select content for ODTUG Kscope19, which is being held in my hometown of Seattle, WA! Every year there is so much outstanding content submitted to our Planning track that it makes for some very long team discussions, and some very difficult decisions have to be made. This year was no different.

Our ODTUG Kscope19 Planning track content selection team had to review over 100 submitted abstracts and as a team we selected, what we thought, were the best Planning presentations. We wanted to include a good mix of cloud offerings and case studies as well as some on-premises solutions for those people attending the conference who might not on the cloud just yet. With that said, here are my top three “MUST ATTEND” Planning Track sessions at this year’s ODTUG Kscope conference in Seattle:

What's New & Coming in Enterprise Planning – Marc Seewald and Mark Rinaldi, Oracle Corporation

Summary from the speakers themselves: “Innovation happens quickly in Oracle Enterprise Planning Cloud, and it pays to stay current on the latest features. This session provides an overview of the strategic direction and an update on new and planned functionality. It also includes a demo of new and upcoming features of the product, focusing on the product roadmap.”

It's always great to hear from Oracle themselves about the latest and greatest features of their products. For anyone looking to stay current and understand the direction of the Enterprise Planning Cloud platform, this will be the session to attend, and it could also be a great presentation to attend for anyone who will miss the Sunday Symposium.

How to Use New Planning (PBCS/EPBCS) Cloud-Only Features in On-Premises Hyperion Planning – Ryan Clarke, Agnico Eagle Mines

I feel this presentation will resonate with MANY ODTUG Kscope19 attendees because they have seen and heard all the very cool features that all the Planning Cloud Services provide, but they might not be quite ready to make jump to the cloud just yet. So, I’m excited to for this presentation because it’s a client presentation, and they will be sharing their own experiences with everyone interested in trying to improve their on-premises applications and systems with some new “cloud-only” features and functionality.

Hybrid Essbase 101 for (E)PBCS UsersACE Director.pngGlenn Schwartzberg, interRel Consulting

Let’s go back to college, shall we? I’m definitely looking forward to Glenn’s intro course to Essbase Hybrid. As Hybrid becomes more and more popular and more commonly used (it is now supported for use in EPBCS/PBCS!), this session will perfect for anyone looking to learn more about the Hybrid technology and its key differences with BSO and ASO cubes. Glenn will not only cover design best practices for PBCS/EPBCS, but he will also include best practices for Hybrid Essbase, as well as some gotchas and other things to look out for. So for me, this will be one college class worth taking!
