Please note that the Sheraton Grand Seattle does not provide a shuttle service to or from the airport.

At Sea-Tac Airport, taxis and ride-sharing companies (Uber, Lyft, & Sidecar) are available on the third floor of the parking garage. One-way rides between the airport and downtown range from $40-$55. Lyft is offering a special discount to all attendees. Save 20% on two rides to/from the Sea-Tac Airport (with a maximum savings of $5 per ride) by using the promo code ODTUG2019. To arrange for a limo, town car, or taxi ride in advance, use any of the travelers’ information boards in baggage claim or visit the ground transportation information booth on the third floor of the parking garage. 

In downtown Seattle, Uber, Lyft, Sidecar, and metered taxis offer in-city transportation from local drivers. All rides can be scheduled using smartphone apps.

Downtown Seattle Transportation

Link Light Rail 

Sound Transit’s Link light rail makes trips from Angle Lake Station to the University of Washington through downtown Seattle making 14 stops along the way, including downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. Trains arrive every 6 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day, and take about 40 minutes to travel between Sea-Tac International Airport and Westlake Station (.10 miles N from the hotel) in downtown Seattle. One-way fare for adults ranges from $2.25 to $3.25. Schedules and station maps are available on the Sound Transit website.

Train

Four train routes service Seattle’s King Street Station, located on the south edge of downtown. Amtrak has three routes: Coast Starlight travels between Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles. Amtrak Cascades travels between Vancouver, BC; Seattle; Tacoma; Portland; Salem and Eugene. Empire Builder travels between Chicago; Minneapolis/St. Paul; Spokane; Portland; and Seattle. King Street Station is 1.2 miles S from Hotel.

Greyhound Bus Service

• Space Needle: Built for the 1962 World’s Fair, the 605-foot-tall Space Needle quickly became an icon of the city that today is recognized far and wide. On the observation level, which you can reach via a 43-second elevator ride, see the doodle-on-a-napkin concept that led to the Space Needle design. Views from the top feature Elliott Bay, the Cascade Mountains, and even Mount Rainier.

• Seattle Center Monorail: Another World’s Fair relic, the Seattle Center Monorail links Seattle Center—home of the Space Needle and several other notable attractions—to downtown’s Westlake Center along an approximately one-mile route. The designated historic landmark can reach a top speed of 45 miles per hour and weaves between skyscrapers above the city streets.

• Museum of  Pop Culture (MoPOP): Music, science fiction, and pop culture all come together at the fascinating Museum of Pop Culture. The Frank Gehry-designed building looks like a smashed guitar from above, while inside, its colorful exhibits cover everything from the history of indie video games and horror films to Nirvana, the Seahawks, and more.

• Pike Place Market: From the iconic market sign and Rachel the Piggy Bank to the gum wall, the original Starbucks cafe, well over 225 local artisans selling their wares, the famous fish-tossing tradition, and music-playing street performers, there are enough sights and sounds at Pike Place Market to pack a day (or more). The market added its historic MarketFront expansion in 2017, featuring an open-air plaza and fantastic views of Elliott Bay.

• Seattle Art Museum - two ways: The Seattle Art Museum is the city’s largest museum dating back to the 1930s and housing a varied collection of artwork that spans multiple eras and geographic regions. Take the time to visit the Olympic Sculpture Park, an outdoor extension of the museum that’s open to the public for free about a mile away at the waterfront.

• Central Public Library:  You’ve never seen a library quite like this—Seattle Central Library’s architecturally distinct structure boasts enough glass to cover more than five football stadiums. Head to the 10th floor for a light-filled reading room with peekaboo views of Elliott Bay, or take a self-guided cell phone tour by dialing 206-868-8564

• Woodland Park Zoo: Kids will go absolutely ape over Seattle’s award-winning zoo. With a dedicated kids’ Zoomazium, high-flying Willawong Station, a petting zoo area and other immersive wildlife experiences for kids, Woodland Park Zoo is the only place in Seattle where you’ll get a chance to set eyes on a chuckwalla, a wallaroo and a kookaburra. No matter what kind of creature you’re crazy to see, the Woodland Park Zoo is the place to go when you want a glimpse of exotic wildlife. It also features exhibits such as the Northern Trail, which focuses on animals of the Northwest, Western Canada and Alaska, and the Trail of Vines, a stellar primate showcase.

• Tidepooling at Golden Gardens Park: For a free, exciting and fascinating time that just can’t be beat, head up to Golden Gardens park at low tide and get an amazing hands-on experience of the aquatic flora and fauna in the Puget Sound. You’ll easily discover a wide array of crabs and fish, giant Moon Snails, sea cucumbers, sea anemones and sea stars (aka starfish) of all colors and textures. Many kids are equally excited about the trains that trundle by the beach, too, so be ready for a full sensory experience to delight and inspire even the most grumpy of Gusses. Click here to check the tide schedule and get out there!

• Seattle Aquarium: The Seattle Aquarium features a stunning 40-foot, 55,000-lb. viewing window that looks into a 120,000-gallon aquarium filled with salmon, colorful rockfish, vibrant sea anemones, and other native Washington marine life. Three times a day, divers take to the waters wearing specialized masks that allow them to interact with and answer questions from the audience. Other exhibits include two touching tide pools filled with sea anemones and sunflower sea star, a pacific coral reef exhibit, marine mammals and an underwater dome, the aquarium’s largest exhibit. The aquarium is located on Seattle’s waterfront at Pier 59.
