Exelixis, a biopharmaceutical company that produces cancer drugs, implemented Oracle Planning and rolling forecasting on a rapid schedule. This presentation describes in detail the implementation of driver-based 18 month rolling forecasting of revenues and expenses, Workforce planning, a custom capital asset planning application and customization of the To-be-Hired (THB) and Temp Hire approval process enabling Exelixis' HR team the ability to approve or reject new hires and temp hires on a one-by-one basis in conjunction with Oracle Hyperion Planning's embedded workflow management capability. The Workforce Planning module was configured to support multi-year employee detailed planning. In addition, the solution delivered a POV driven dynamic comparison view of current and prior forecasts for 15 month overlaps in the rolling 18 month forecasts. This unique view allows corporate managers to easily see economic performance over extended periods of time and understand if the forecasting process is diverging from or converging towards long term corporate strategic targets. This design approach supports Exelixis' "Path Forward" planning methodology. The application solution is designed for scalability for Phase II and is designed with custom currency conversion to support planning in local currencies once Exelixis extends into international markets.
