Where On Earth Should I Put My Data?

Connor McDonald, Oracle Corporation

When it comes to data, there is a fundamental debate throughout the industry. Should you put your data in one multi-purpose database or many single built-for-purpose databases?

You might think that this is just vendor hype. Namely, that vendors with a single database want a single database, and vendors with multiple databases want multiple databases. They’re all the same – they just want your money! Similarly, you might be skeptical of a talk given by a vendor representative with skin in this game. But let’s put the hyperbole aside and take an objective look at this debate.

We'll explore what each approach means to developers, data scientists, business analysts, and everyone else with a vested interest in your company's data.

2:40 - 3:20 p.m.

APEX 22.1:Customizing Universal Theme like a Pro

Tim Kimberl, Oracle Corporation

The Universal Theme empowers developers to build beautiful, responsive, accessible apps without requiring extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. This session will walk you through some of the new features in the latest release of Universal Theme, and show you how you can easily customize the UI of your apps using CSS variables and other techniques. Learn how you can add custom branding and personality to your apps in an easily supportable manner. Pretty soon, you too will be customizing Universal Theme like a pro!

3:25 - 4:15 p.m.

Oracle Database - The Next Release is for Developers

Connor McDonald, Oracle Corporation

Often the new features in a new database version pertain to the "big ticket" functionality areas of availability, performance, management, technology shifts and so forth. But for developers, often it is the tiny little enhancements or tweaks to existing functionality that make all the difference. As far back as databases versions go, it is the little things that have developers singing from the rooftops. Column rename in in 8i, MERGE in 9i, virtual columns in 11g, FETCH FIRST in 12c - the list goes on. This session looks at the Oracle Database roadmap to reveal our continuing focus on developers. We'll look at what has arrived in 21c to help developers, and look out into the future at even more enhancements that are planned. Developer-focused improvements are going to boost your productivity and make the database easier to use than ever!

4:20 - 5:00 p.m.

APEX + Oracle Cloud

Vladislav Uvarov, Oracle Corporation

Oracle APEX has been available on Autonomous Database since 2019. Last year, we added a dedicated workload type targeted at APEX developers. This session will look under the covers to show how Oracle deploys and runs APEX on a large scale, how we manage APEX upgrades, and what improvements we have made in the past 12 months. We will also discuss best practices for using APEX on Autonomous and review exciting features on the roadmap.

EPM

The ODTUG Kscope conference happens to coincide with Oracle’s new fiscal year and is our first opportunity to share the latest insights and announcements with conference attendees. That makes ODTUG Kscope the “must attend” conference, and there is no better venue for us to do that than at our Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM Sunday Symposium. With both our 11.2 releases for our Hyperion EPM on-premises deployments and the rapid innovations coupled with the depth and breadth of functionality in Oracle Cloud EPM, we have a lot of valuable insight and information to share with our EPM-focused attendees at this year’s Sunday Symposium. Whether you have existing EPM deployments on-premises, cloud, or a little of both, this symposium is one you definitely don’t want to miss. We will cover the strategy and roadmap for all your deployment investments and continue our tradition of treating attendees to first looks at the latest innovations and works-in-progress. You will also learn how our customers are taking advantage of Cloud EPM to deliver best-in-class functionality and enterprise performance to the business.

Presented by Oracle EPM product management and development leaders, you will get unfiltered insight into our key R&D initiatives. Our goal at the EPM Sunday Symposium is to expose attendees to the latest and greatest from Oracle EPM development in these areas and offer you the opportunity to learn more in the detailed conference sessions. In keeping with our goal, the EPM Symposium's agenda is intended to be a free flowing and interactive session that will cover a State of the Business keynote by Matt Bradley and Hari Sankar, followed by an innovation R&D showcase and audience Q&A facilitated by your Oracle EPM Product Management team for both cloud and on-premises.  We look forward to your attendance at this year's symposium.
